These striking Isua Stone crystal skulls are dark gray to black metamorphosed mafic rock, with distinct bands of different minerals, volcanic rock, sediments, iron and magnesium in streaks of grey/brown/gold. The pronounced banded iron composition is evidence that this stone was once part of the ocean floor, containing layers of micro-organisms, the very first lifeforms on Earth. At almost 4 billion years old, these ultra-rare Isua Stone skulls from Greenland are carved from some of the oldest remaining pieces of the Earth's primordial crust, making them truly ancient - each is unique and fascinating to look at.
